Key Personnel
JAYSON J. VAN HOOSEAR, P.E. is responsible for the management and quality control / review
of the Mechanical Engineering Department at PVE. Jayson’s experience prior to joining with
GPA/PVE was obtained at two full service architectural and engineering firms. Jayson was a
senior level Mechanical Engineer at both firms.
Jayson Van Hoosear’s Engineering expertise consists of design and supervision of
engineering and design of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, site and building
plumbing systems, temperature control systems, fire protection systems, specifications,
feasibility studies, energy audits, cost estimating and coordination of construction follow-up.
Projects consist of Educational, Municipal, Institutional, Commercial, Religious, Historical
Restoration and Retrofit and Industrial Facilities.
Jayson received his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical engineering from Western Michigan
University, Kalamazoo, Michigan and a Masters of Business Administration from Walsh
College in Troy, Michigan. Jayson is licensed and registered to practice
engineering in the State of Michigan, License No. 6201052010. Jayson also belongs
to the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Survey (NCEES) records
program for licensing requirements in multiple state jurisdiction. Through the NCEES record,
Jayson has also become registered in Ohio, Indiana and Virginia.
KARL POTAPA has shared the responsibility for overall management & administration of the
firm since 2000. Karl has 27 years of engineering and construction experience in the building
construction industry. Karl’s entire career has been with Gerald Potapa & Associates ( Potapa,
Mancini & Associates Inc, 1980-1988 ) and now PVE. Karl has been responsible for
scheduling, production and shared quality review for every project completed by GPA / PVE
since 1997. Karl is currently a principal at PVE.
Karl Potapa’s expertise also consists of design, and supervision of design of heating,
ventilating and air conditioning systems, site and building plumbing systems, temperature
control systems, fire protection systems, specifications, feasibility studies, energy audits, cost
estimating and coordination of construction follow-up. He has also participated as a building
contractor in the Detroit metropolitan area. Michigan License No. 2101163599.
Under Karl Potapa’s management, GPA/PVE has provided Engineering services for an
average of 90 projects per year. Projects consist of Educational, Municipal, Institutional,
Commercial, Religious, Historical Restoration and Retrofit and Industrial Facilities.
Jayson and Karl have maintained memberships in the following organizations:
ASHRAE: American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers
ASPE: American Society of Plumbing Engineers
NFPA: National Fire Protection Association
